The diversity of wood carvings from Indonesia is almost limitless in size, style, age and quality.  The work ranges from junk mass-produced trinkets to the sublime work of traditional masters, ancient or contemporary. Djawa Traders offers nothing machine tooled, and if we offer hand-carved pieces from journeymen carvers, we do so to provide simple decorating solutions and offer them at low cost.  However, most of our carvings represent a higher ideal of aesthetic value and, naturally, higher costs.  In Indonesia master carvers are acknowledged and compensated for the mastery of their craft, and Djawa Traders respects this requirement.  Our clients may rest assured the prices paid for carvings represent a fair and honest assessment of where that carving lies in the wide spectrum of value found in Indonesian carvings. We will never pass off inexpensive carvings as expensive masterpieces.
