Tropical homes in Asia lack closets in construction.  The climate precludes small spaces like closets lacking in circulation and natural light.  The European (principally Dutch) influence on the archipelago introduced the need for closets and Indonesian craftsman have for centuries been making functional and decorative armoires serving as closet space. These pieces often incorporate a great deal of local tradition and style.
