Traditional homes in Indonesia often use elaborately carved doors to represent tribal heritage, along with family history and values.  These carvings could be used as main entrance doorways, window shutters, or smaller doors into barns or grain storage sheds.  This practical use of these beautiful carvings is evident from the protruding rounded knob at top and bottom to one side, which are always formed from the solid, single piece of wood used.  In our antique pieces these knobs are smoothed from years of use.
