Traditional homes on Timor typically are constructed of thatched grass or palm roofs and walls hung onto a sturdy wooden frame built on low stilts. Incorporated into the frame are often sturdy and decorative doors representing elements of the Timorese world view closely tying humans with the natural world. When these homes fall into disuse the frames are recovered and Djawa Traders proudly offers these unique, hand-crafted pieces made of suar or timor redwood.
